The Old Road Farm
The Old Road Farm is a regenerative family farm in Washington, PA known for its organic-fed, pasture-raised meats, eggs, and raw milk. Their work is centered around raising nutrient-dense food with care for the land, the animals, and the local community.
As a bonus, it is run by Karis who is a naturopathic doctor from the same university that I graduated from (NUNM). That means, I KNOW she knows her stuff! The best way to get to know The Old Road Farm is by visiting the farm. They have the opportunity for you to help them with farm chores (if you ever wanted to test-drive farmer life before you buy those few acres of land) and they offer various tours and events.
The Old Road farm truly has the most organic, pasture-raised, grass fed, happy animals I have been able to find in the Pittsburgh area. The farm also sells eggs, raw milk (That is scientifically tested which is VERY important!), amazing meat sticks, beef, venison, turkey, lamb, pork, and organ meats. (Plus probably other stuff- Karis always is working on something new!).
The Old Road Farm also has various CSA’s throughout the year which make eating farm to table even easier.
If you’re serious about having top of the line animal products- The Old Road Farm is the place to go!

Janoski's Farm & Greenhouse
Janoski’s is truly a hub of fun & farm. We have attended several of their events throughout the year and they always bring the FUN! Janoski’s does not spray it’s fields so their wide-variety of produce is nutritious and safe for you and your family.
They have events all of the time from St. Patrick’s Day, to general Wellness events. Our favorite event to take our kids to is their fall event. They have hundreds of vendors, samples, food trucks, and local goods available for purchase. It’s become our favorite family tradition.
Something that has stoof out to me about Janoski’s is that they truly are family-owned. I think by now I have met every cousin, uncle, aunt, neice, or nephew from the whole family. Most of them work there or at the various markets throughout Pittsburgh and they are very knowledgeable.
I always visit them at the Bridgeville Farmer’s Market and I’ve really asked them a lot of questions from farming practices, tilling their soil, harvesting times, transportation of goods, and even recipes for different produce. I was shocked that one of the youngest guys there knew it all!
Even more than that, Janoski’s Farm is known for their generosity. I have seen them time and time again give back to the community in various ways and I truly think that is just who they are!

Bedner's Farm & Greenhouse
Bedner’s Farm & Greenhouse truly offers homegrown happiness. We were FLOORED by the kindness that was offered to our family when we arrived. We felt as if we had known the employees our whole lives. We were able to participate in their pick your own produce and pick your own bouquet. Afterwards, we enjoyed a meal, samples of wine from their winery, live music, and an onsite community market.
This farm far exceeded our expectations. This farm offers CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) bags of fresh produce available July-December, courses for gardening (for both adults & littles), wine-down Wednesdays, and Farm to Table dinners hosting by the farm.
We ended up spending an entire day on the farm and we can’t wait to return for their events including pumpkin picking in the fall!
They are the most family-friendly farm I have ever visited. Check out their site to see the array of services, events, and produce that they offer. (I could type about them forever).
P.S. They have a winery as well with the BEST wine I have ever tasted. (Including wine slushies!)

Farm 57
Owned by Joel & Megan, Farm 57 is a must-shop. They can be found at most markets and sell pasture raised chicken and pork! They also offer different seasoning rubs and eggs from their farm.
Something that I really admire about Farm57 is their commitment to transparency. They are very open and honest about all of their practices and the origins of all of their products which makes it a great experience for you as a consumer!
We met Joel & Megan at a farmers market about a year ago in Mt. Lebanon and we loved their family-first focus and desire to bring quality chicken and pork to other families.

Bedner's Farm Market
Bedner’s Farm Market is located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and truly brings the farm to a busy area in town. It is owned by a cousin of those that own the (above) Bedner’s Farm and Greenhouse. Bedner’s Farm Market is a great place to stop for fresh produce, bouquets of flowers, jellies, jams, honey, and freshly churned butter. There is also a large variety of grass-fed/ pasture- raised beef cuts from a local farm in the market as well. Bedner’s Farm Market also features They have a little bit of everything there!
When I visited, I was really floored by their staff’s knowledge and advocation for farm to table nutrition. They have several resources for education available at the counter involving recipes and how to support the farm to table movement.
